Rangers face ONE Premiership match in 33 day run that will see Celtic turn tables in fixture chase

Rangers could only play one Scottish Premiership fixtures in 33 days after their February 13 game with Kilmarnock.

The Ibrox men have played out most of the season so far with their title rivals Celtic trailing behind in the number of games played after Covid issues saw fixtures postponed.

But by the end of March the Hoops should have caught up after a spell packed with games.

Livingston's success in reaching the Betfred Cup Final against St Johnstone means their match at the Tony Macaroni against the Ibrox men on February 28 has now been postponed with a new date to be announced shortly.

And with space for two Scottish Cup weekends plus matches in the Europa League to fit in, there is currently only room for one fixture in the top flight between February 13 and the clash with Celtic on March 20.

That solitary game, against St Mirren, will take place at Ibrox on March 6.

The issue could be alleviated if the outstanding game against David Martindale's men was rescheduled for the weekend of February 20 and 21.

A decision is still to be made on whether the Scottish Cup ties scheduled for those days - and then the following round three weeks later - will continue to go ahead amid the Covid shutdown of the lower leagues.

Rivals Celtic have three games in hand and catch up on their first against St Mirren next Saturday.

They face the same opponents to chalk off another match on February 10 before facing the last of their backlog against Aberdeen a week later.

Neil Lennon's men will also face St Johnstone on February 14, Aberdeen once again on February 27 and Dundee United on March 7.

It means, when the two sides meet on March 20, Celtic will have played 32 games, one more than Rangers on 31.

The Ibrox mens' games between February 13 and March 20 currently looks as follows:

February 13 - Kilmarnock (Premiership)

February 18 - Antwerp (Europa League)

February 20/21 - Scottish Cup TBC

February 25 - Antwerp (Europa League)

February 28 - Free due to Livingston playing Betfred Cup Final

March 6 - St Mirren (Premiership)

March 13 - Scottish Cup TBC

March 20 - Celtic (Premiership)
