Rangers face Mahmoud Saber 'transfer battle' with Valencia and Benfica

Egyptian youngster Mahmoud Saber says he's received an offer from Rangers.

Saber left Egyptian Premier League champions AL Ahley SC this summer, and says Rangers are one of three major European clubs to have made him an offer.

The 18-year-old free agent is primarily known as a winger, but can also play as a full-back.

He's been compared to countryman Mo Salah, who has become a superstar during his time at Liverpool.

As quoted in Record Sport, Saber said: "Because I have never signed a professional contract with Al-Ahly, I am deemed an amateur player and can sign for a new club for nothing.

"I have offers from Rangers in Scotland, Valencia in Spain and Benfica from Portugal as well as a big club in Tunisia. I will make my decision soon.

"I have European agents sorting my future and I hope to be in a position to sign for my new club shortly."

Steven Gerrard's men return to Premiership action this afternoon when they take on St Mirren at Ibrox.  New signing Cedric Itten is likely to be named in the squad, but the game appears to have come too soon for Kemar Roofe.
