Rangers extension offer for Morecambe loan move kid

Rangers have offered starlet Josh McPake a two-year deal ahead of a loan move to Morecambe.

The teenager, who is on a verge of a season-long loan move to the English League One side, is already under contract until next summer, but the Ibrox club are reportedly keen to tie him down longer term.

A report by the Daily Record says Steven Gerrard Is close to securing the 19-year-old from Coatbridge on a deal that would tie him to the Premiership champions until 2024.

Motherwell and Livingston had been keen on McPake, but it looks like the winger wants to continue his development in England with Morecambe, where former Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has taken over from Derek Adams.

McPake, who is a Scotland under-21 international and came through Rangers' academy, spent the second half of last season on loan at Harrogate in League Two, and played in the 1-0 delayed FA Trophy 2020 final win over Concord Rangers in May.

He has also spent time on loan at Dundee and Morton in recent years.
