Rangers Europa League rivals Feyenoord given UEFA boost ahead of crucial final match day

Feyenoord will be allowed to have fans in Portugal for their crucial Europa League tie with Porto on Thursday night.

UEFA had initially banned the sale of away tickets after crowd disturbances in the game against Young Boys.

For the final match day Feyenoord know they need to win to have any chance of reaching the last 32, and even then Rangers need to do them a favour by beating Young Boys.

Today UEFA has announced than an appeal against the fan ban has been partially upheld.

The fine of €50,000 the crowd disturbances, the throwing of objects and setting off fireworks remains, as does a further €5,000 for the damage caused.

However, the ban on selling tickets to away fans is now suspended for a year from the date of the original sanction.

Rangers only need a draw on Thursday night to progress to the knockout stages, and could even go through with a loss if Porto are held to a draw by Feyenoord.

Steven Gerrard's men have the head-to-head advantage so would go through if both sides finish on eight points.
