Rangers equal Celtic clean sheets record as Ibrox stars match 114 year old league feat

Rangers have equalled a league clean sheet record set by Celtic in 1906.

Steven Gerrard 's side comfortably defeated Hamilton Accies 2-0 on Saturday evening to register their sixth straight Premiership shut out.

Goals from Ianis Hagi and skipper James Tavernier earned a straightforward three points, but they had keeper Jon McLaughlin to thank for preserving a blemish-free goals against column for the campaign to date.

The shot-stopper made a stunning near post save to keep Accies scoreless in the second period.

It ensured Rangers matched a league feat last achieved by Willie Maley's Hoops 114 years ago.

In the early 20th century, Celtic also racked up six straight clean sheets in the old Division 1.

They kept out Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Morton, Hearts, Third Lanark and Airdrie in a water tight run of victories.

Maley's side extended their shut out tally to eight in all competitions during the run, with Partick Thistle and Queen's Park failing to score against them in the Glasgow Cup.

Rangers ' run has comprised clean sheets against Aberdeen, St Mirren, St Johnstone, Livingston, Kilmarnock and now Accies.
