Rangers 'end' Jake Hastie bid as they grow frustrated over pursuit of Motherwell star

Rangers have ended their interest in Motherwell winger Jake Hastie, according to reports.

The winger was heavily linked with a pre-contract switch to Ibrox but Rangers have grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of development in the move.

Hastie has exploded onto the scene at Motherwell since returning from a loan spell at Alloa and is also wanted by various English Championship clubs.

And now the Evening Times report that the deal to take him to Rangers is now off and Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen will look at other options.

The 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Crystal Palace are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing him.

Rangers are also interested in signing Aberdeen loanee Greg Stewart, as we exclusively revealed on Sunday.

Gerrard is an admirer of Stewart, who can play anywhere across the front line.

And having already snared Jordan Jones from Killie on a Bosman, he now wants Stewart for next term in a bid to add creativity in the final third.

His deal at St Andrews is up on June 30 and Stewart won’t be short of options, particularly north of the border.

But Rangers now look favourites to land the former Dundee attacker as Gerrard reloads his squad for a fresh crack at the Premiership title.
