Rangers earn 'big name' tag from Slavia Prague manager as he outlines why Ibrox trip is Europa League preference

Slavia Prague manager Jindrich Trpisovsky is eyeing up Rangers as his preferred last 32 Europa League opponent in Monday's draw.

Steven Gerrard's men stormed through to the last 32 as group winners by defeating Lech Poznan 2-0 in Poland.

That result means they'll be drawn against an unseeded team, which could be Slavia.

The Czech club's big rivals Sparta Prague managed to destroy the other team of Glasgow's great divide twice by beating Celtic 4-1 home and away.

That proves the standard of Czech football and Slavia, who qualified ahead of Israeli side Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Ligue 1 Nice but behind Bayer Leverkusen, are actually five points clear of Sparta in their domestic league.

They also captivated audiences in last season's Champions League, winning two points from visits to the San Siro and Camp Nou in a nightmare group consisting of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter and playing entertaining football throughout.

And after securing knockout football this time around their gaffer is eyeing up Ibrox as a preferred destination - because the Govan side gives them the best chance of success while also being a "big name".

Trpisovsky said: "I would like a team that would suit us typologically, someone from the Netherlands, for example. There is, for example, Ajax or PSV.

"An ideal mix would be a club with a big name and at the same time a chance to advance through it.

"If I had to say one particular team, it would probably be the Glasgow Rangers. That would be a good draw."
