Rangers dominate in Ally McCoist & Chris Sutton's combined best XI

You'll rarely hear Ally McCoist and Chris Sutton agreeing on anything.

But here we have the Rangers legend and Celtic hero concurring on their combined best XI of the two teams.

It's fair to say both strikers featured alongside some impressive players during their respective times at Ibrox and Parkhead.

They're certainly not short of an old top-class teammate.

However, asked by Viaplay to come up with their best combined Rangers & Celtic XI ahead of this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final, the duo have had to make some big calls to agree on their team.

They initially picked their best teams from the players they played.

Sutton selected the likes of Neil Lennon, Boba Balde, Henrik Larsson, and Lubo Moravcik in his team of Celtic players.

McCoist understandably went for the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Brian Laudrup, and Davie Cooper.

But when it came to merging the two teams, only two Celtic players made the cut - with nine Rangers stars dominating proceedings.

Johan Mjallby and Larsson were the only representations from the Hoops, as McCoist got his way more so than Sutton.

Andy Goram was picked as the No.1. Mjallby, Richard Gough, and Terry Butcher made up a back three in front of him.

In midfield, it was made up of McCoist’s Rangers teammates of Graeme Souness, Laudrup, Gascoigne, Ian Durrant, and Davie Cooper.

The likes of Lennon, Moravcik, and Stiliyan Petrov were all omitted from the team.

And up front Sutton and Mark Hateley were the two players to miss out to be replaced by Larsson and McCoist.

Combined XI: Goram; Mjallby, Gough, Butcher; Souness, Laudrup, Gascoigne, Durrant, Cooper; Larsson, McCoist
