Rangers' dominance disappoints Motherwell star Stephen O'Donnell as he addresses Celtic form

Motherwell defender Stephen O'Donnell has said he's disappointed to see Rangers so far ahead in the Scottish Premiership.

In a surprise appearance on Sportscene last night, the Scotland international was put in the awkward position of having to comment on one of his rivals as the defender and Motherwell legend James McFadden poured over Celtic's shock 2-1 defeat to St Mirren.

Rangers remain 23 points clear of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership following the result, with the Ibrox side well on their way to ending Celtic's 10 in a row bid.

O'Donnell, who is out of contract at Fir Park today and has been linked with a move to Celtic, was asked by host Jonathan Sutherland if Hoops boss Neil Lennon had reached the end of the line after a run of one win in six games.

The 28-year-old right-back shuffled in his seat and responded: "It's a hard question to ask.

"I think Neil Lennon has done an exceptional job at Celtic over the two spells as manager and I think there's lots of questions to be answered.

"It's been a disappointment for Celtic fans and hopefully the gap can get closer for more entertainment value in Scottish football because it's disappointing to see Rangers so far ahead."

It remains to be seen where O'Donnell's future lies.

Last week 'Well No.2 Chris Lucketti confirmed they were in talks with the Wishaw ace about extending his stay, but wished to keep all other details "in-house."

Motherwell host Dundee United on Wednesday night in their next Premiership outing, before travelling to Celtic on Saturday.
