Rangers directors reveal Braga 'bouncy' rave review as Ibrox rated better than the Bernabeu

Rangers' sporting director Ross Wilson has revealed Braga chiefs were raving about the atmosphere created at Ibrox during the 3-2 Europa League win in February.

The Ibrox club had been dominated for 60 minutes until Ianis Hagi's stunning strike sparked Ibrox to life.

With the fans suddenly roaring Steven Gerrard's men on, Joe Aribo poked home the equaliser after a jinking run before Hagi sparked wild scenes of celebration with a free-kick to take the lead.

In a 'webinar' on the club's Youtube channel with commercial director James Bisgrove, Wilson explained how the eardrum shattering noise of a bouncing Ibrox left a lasting impression on the owners of the Portuguese club.

He said: "When James and myself walked into the the away game and met the directors from Braga, that was the first thing they were saying to us as well, 'What a special atmosphere you have at Ibrox and Glasgow'.

"So they were blown away by it as well. In terms of our identity as a strong club in Europe those sort of comments can only be good for the club.

"People recognise that Ibrox is a special place on a European night."

Bisgrove was equally wowed by the experience and his time working for UEFA means he has sampled some of the finest atmospheres on the continent.

The commercial director was taken to some of Europe's most frenzied grounds during in his time at the governing body but he stresses that Ibrox tops the lot - even Euro giants Real Madrid.

He said: "Before I joined the club in June 2019, I was fortunate enough to experience a lot of European football atmospheres from my time at UEFA.

"I visited Borussia Dortmund, the Bernabeu, Galatasaray and that night when you have the crowd doing the bouncy and that atmosphere, for me it's unparalleled for anything else in football.

"It makes everything we do worthwhile and what makes it so special."
