Rangers director Stewart Robertson returns to SPFL board as Celtic chief Peter Lawwell leaves role

Rangers director Stewart Robertson and Hamilton's Les Gray have been elected to the 2019 SPFL board.

Celtic chief Peter Lawwell and Dundee supremo John Nelms have left their roles while Motherwell's Alan Burrows retains his place as the three Premiership representatives were finalised.

Graham Peterkin of Ayr United and Ross McArthur of Dunfermline have been selected from the Championship.

Brechin's Ken Ferguson, meanwhile, will represent both League One and League Two following the league body's agm at Hampden.

They will take their places alongside SPFL chief-executive Neil Doncaster, chairman Murdoch MacLennan and independent non-executive director Karyn McCluskey.

Rangers were absent from last season's board amid a row with MacLennan, with Robertson having last been voted on in 2017.

The club were deeply unhappy the SPFL refused to commission an independent investigation into an alleged conflict of interest.

Rangers chairman Dave King wanted a probe into MacLennan's role at the SPFL as well as his appointment to the Independent News and Media board, partly owned by Celtic shareholders Dermot Desmond and Denis O'Brien.

But the SPFL shut down King's demand, labelling the matter "closed".
