Rangers defender George Edmundson 'not for sale' during summer transfer window

Rangers have decided defender George Edmundson is not for sale this summer, as the Englishman is handed a chance to revive his Ibrox career next season.

Earlier this week, we told you how Edmundson had been the subject of several bids from English lower-league clubs after spending last season on-loan at Wayne Rooney's Derby County.

However, Steven Gerrard has seen fit to reject those bids, according to the Daily Record, with both Derby and Peterborough United thought to be keen on snapping the 23-year-old up on a permanent basis, with Edmundson now looking likely to return to Glasgow.

Edmundson spent the second-half of last season under Rooney's tutelage at Pride Park, playing 10 times, including starting the final three Championship games of the season, as the Rams avoided relegation to League One on the final day of the campaign.

Edmundson will now compete with Connor Goldson, Filip Helander, Leon Balogun and Nikola Katic for a starting berth in Glasgow next season, unless a crazy offer makes Gerrard and the Gers hierarchy reconsider their current stance.
