Rangers defender Connor Goldson slaps down idiots who criticised him for taking the knee

Connor Goldson has slapped down the idiots who took issue with him taking the knee.

Following his side's 2-0 win over Nice, the Rangers defender posted an image on Instagram in which he and team-mates Steve Davis, Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo took the knee.

Taking the knee is a gesture of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, but sadly there were individuals who displayed ignorance in the comments.

In response, Goldson shared another image of him taking the knee, and said: "Let’s try again. The hate and ignorance in the comments of the last picture were disgusting but not surprising.

This isn’t about politics it’s about equality!!! We all need educating, myself included!"

A number of ignorant comments were left under a post on the official Rangers Twitter account on Thursday, after they posted images of captain James Tavernier, Ryan Jack, Goldson, Davis and Morelos taking the knee.

Fans have today backed Goldson for calling out the idiots, with @waynehallthornton saying: "You’d run through a brick wall for the club I love and that’s all I care about. Chin up big man."
