The hilarious moment an adorable Scots tot accidentally ruined her dad’s 37th birthday surprise has been caught on camera.
Craig Mackechnie decided to film three-year-old Maddison at the family’s home in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, on Wednesday morning after she constantly pestered him to get out of bed.
The 37-year-old followed his excited little girl upstairs as she urged him to ‘come see your cake’ which was waiting for him in the kitchen.
The plucky youngster sat on a chair and began lifting the box containing half a dozen treats from Oh So Sweet Cupcakes in Bonnybridge.
But just seconds later, the bottom of the box opened and four of the Rangers FC -themed cakes plunged onto the kitchen floor, icing side down.
Craig said: “I work night shift so I was in bed and she was dying to get me up.
“She kept coming into the room all excited because it was my birthday and she wanted to show me the cupcakes.
“I eventually got up and decided to video it because of how excited she was and obviously that then happened.
“It was quite funny and I just kidded on that it was alright.
"My wife made a wee bit more of a fuss about it but we managed to recover them anyway.
“The five second rule works every time.
"Maddison and her brother Mason have had a few of them - there’s only two left.
“It’s a good wee video and it’ll be nice to look back on over the years.”
Craig, who is also dad to Mason, five, shared the video on Twitter and has since racked up more than 12,000 views.
