Rangers crowned Premiership champions as Celtic drop points against Dundee United

Rangers have been crowned the Scottish Premiership winners for the 2020/21 season after Celtic dropped points at Tannadice.

It means they now can't catch Rangers' points tally of 88 points with the Hoops 19 behind and just 18 available to play for before the end of the season.

Rangers got their title party started yesterday after beating St Mirren and there were scenes of jubilation on the pitch and in the dressing room following the match.

Steven Gerrard admitted the players would have the game on at the club's training centre while having lunch together following a recovery session.

And they would have been in party mood again as Celtic failed to break down Dundee United and dropped the points needed for Rangers to clinch the title.

It ends a run of nine years of Celtic dominance in what was an incredibly difficult decade for the Ibrox club and their fans.

It's Rangers first league title since they won the 2010/11 SPL title on the last day of the season in a 5-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Since then, they suffered financial meltdown and had to fight their way back up the leagues from the bottom tier.

But that's now all in the past and Rangers and Gerrard will be looking forward to potentially adding more silverware over the next couple of seasons.
