Rangers' Craig McPherson learns Celtic Fran Alonso 'headbutt' fate as SFA hand out punishment

Rangers women's coach Craig McPherson has been handed an immediate SIX game ban from the SFA after he 'headbutted' Fran Alonso.

The member of the Ibrox coaching staff was involved in an unsavoury incident last month when he appeared to aim a headbutt at Celtic women's gaffer after a thrilling 1-1 derby. Alonso also claimed he was branded a 'little rat' by McPherson with an SFA disciplinary hearing finding that he was guilty of a breach of disciplinary rule 77 that includes acting in a manner that 'improper or use any one, or a combination of, violent Conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour.'

McPherson revealed after the fact he had 'let down' himself and Rangers and that he had spoken with Alonso on the incident. The governing body have now given their verdict on the incident with McPherson to miss the next six games in all competitions.

McPherson stated last month: "I know I have severely let myself, our team and the club down. I hold myself to the highest of standards and have never done anything like this before in a long coaching career, and I know I fell way short of that with my actions.

"I will also apologise to the Scottish FA at my hearing and will, of course, accept in full, whatever punishment they deem appropriate. I simply want to apologise today, convey my massive regret and explain how out of character this moment has been for me."
