Rangers Covid 5 verdict DELAYED as Ibrox players face nervous wait for punishment decision

The wait continues for the five Rangers stars awaiting a verdict from the SFA regarding punishment for attending a lockdown party in February as they face a delay before finding out their fate.

Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Bongani Zungu, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear were pulled up by the governing body on March 9 as they were collectively handed a notice of complaint for the Covid rule breaches.

The hearing date was set for Thursday, March 25 and it was expected that the verdict from that process was finally due on Monday.

However Record Sport now understands it won't be until Tuesday - five days on from the original hearing and three weeks after the charge was issued - that any potential punishments are dished out.

No reason for the delay is known as of yet but if the notice of complaint is upheld a precedent has already been set with two players at the club.

Jordan Jones and George Edmundson were pulled up for attending a bash in Glasgow's west end back in November and were handed seven game bans, heading out on loan for the remainder of the season in the January window.

But unlike the duo from earlier in the season some of the five Ibrox stars involved have played for Rangers since the incident.

Nathan Patterson has regularly filled in at right-back in the absence of James Tavernier while Zungu has also featured. Mebude and Kinnear, meanwhile, have played for loan clubs Queen of the South and Annan Athletic.
