Rangers 'could' bring back Leon Balogun as Michael Beale looks for cover after Leon King injury blow

Rangers could be set to bring back Leon Balogun for a second Ibrox spell, according to reports.

The Light Blues suffered an injury blow as part of their pre-season camp in Germany with youngster Leon King ruled out for a 'significant period of time'. Last season they had a real defensive shortage at points in the campaign due to key injuries to the likes of Connor Goldson and Ben Davies with cover short in that area of the team.

Michael Beale has already added six new faces this summer but the Scottish Sun report a familiar face could rock up with the club in talks with the 35-year-old over a one-year deal. He initially joined under Steven Gerrard back in 2021 and joined Gers last summer to join QPR. He could now be offered a dream move back to Glasgow.

Balogun was gutted to leave Rangers when his contract expired last time around but he could be ready for a stunning second stint.

A club statement on the injury sustained by King read: "#RangersFC can confirm defender Leon King suffered a contact injury to his ankle at the club’s pre-season training camp in Germany on Monday which will rule him out for a significant period of time.

"Leon is being looked after by the club’s medical staff and a further update will follow in due course. Everyone at the club wishes Leon a speedy recovery."

Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Jack Butland, Abdallah Sima, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have all put pen to paper with the Ibrox side so far this summer.
