Rangers confirm warm weather training camp during Premiership winter break

Rangers have revealed plans for a winter training camp as the Scottish Premiership prepares to shut down in the new year.

Scotland's top flight will grind to a halt from January 3 until January 19 2024, with the hope that the worst of the winter weather will be dodged.

It also gives clubs time to regroup after a long first half of the season and Philippe Clement will be looking to use the time to bed some of his January signings into his squad.

Rangers are heading to La Manga in Spain where they will spend a week training before returning to Scotland for a big push domestically and in Europe.

The club will train and also play a game on Spanish shores behind closed doors to work on tactics and also give players some important minutes.

Clement said: "Everything is arranged. That was also one of the things in the six weeks. We are going to Spain for one week.

“We are going to play a game there, and we are planning to play a friendly game here on the way back. It will be in La Manga and the friendly will be closed doors.”

Rangers confirmed yesterday that they would also be welcoming F.C. Copenhagen to Ibrox Stadium for a winter friendly.

The clash in Glasgow will take place on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, with an 8pm kick-off. The match will mark the Gers’ return to action as they step up preparations following the winter break before continuing their domestic campaign by heading to Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup. The Danish opposition should prove to be a stern test for Philippe Clement’s side, with Copenhagen the current title holders in their nation and they also occupy second place in their UEFA Champions League group heading into the final round of matches.
