Rangers confirm signing of Ianis Hagi on permanent deal

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old had been on loan at Ibrox since January, and on Tuesday night his parent club KRC Genk confirmed on their website that a permanent move had been agreed with Rangers.

There was confusion, however, when the Belgian side deleted the post. The deal has now been confirmed by Rangers, though, with the fee thought to be three instalments adding up to £3m.

The Romanian midfielder quickly became a fans' favourite, with his double against Braga in the Europa League inspiring a memorable 3-2 comeback.

Speaking in Spanish newspaper Marca earlier this month, Hagi called Rangers boss Steven Gerrard "one of the best in the history of football" and said "I learn something different from him every day."

Speaking today, Hagi said: “I am excited about re-joining the squad for pre-season and putting on the famous shirt once again. There was interest from other clubs, but my priority was always to return to Glasgow and play for Rangers."
