Rangers confirm Kemar Roofe signing as former Anderlecht and Leeds United star arrives

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Kemar Roofe.

The 27-year old was first linked with Rangers last summer when he was at Leeds United, but ended up joining Anderlecht.

Roofe made 16 appearances in an injury-hit season in Belgium, scoring seven times.  He's signed a four-year deal at Ibrox.

Roofe's arrival will strengthen an area of the squad that has been hit by Jermain Defoe's injury and speculation surrounding the future of Alfredo Morelos.

Speaking on the official Rangers website, Roofe said: “I am delighted to join Rangers and look forward to meeting up with my new teammates.

"Rangers are a huge club, with ambition and I know this is the right fit for me to progress my career.

"I am looking forward to experiencing Ibrox and am excited to play in Europe.”

His new manager Steven Gerrard said: “Kemar is recognised throughout Europe as an intelligent attacker with an eye for goal."

Roofe began his career at West Brom, and scored 33 goals in 123 appearances for Leeds. Although he's known as a centre-forward, Roofe can also play on the right wing.
