Rangers clinch U18 league title in style and secure a place at UEFA's top table for next season

Rangers U18s cemented a stunning double by securing the Club Academy Scotland league title with a 3-1 win over Hearts on Friday.

Just a week on from their Youth Cup Final heroics against Celtic, David McCallum's side clinched the league in style on Friday afternoon.

And their success doesn't just mean another shiny trophy for the Auchenhowie cabinet.

The league title ensures Rangers will compete in next season's UEFA Youth League against the best the continent has to offer.

Kai Kennedy was the star man as he scored a stunning clincher to add to his assist for the second goal at the Oriam.

It was full-back James Maxwell who broke the deadlock midway through the first half when he controlled the ball inside the area before lashing beyond Jambos keeper Harry Stone.

Within four minutes it was 2-0 when skipper Kyle McClelland volleyed home a precise corner from Kennedy to put the Light Blues within trouching distance of the prize.

Hearts were given hope early in the second half when Harris O'Connor netted an own goal.

But a stunning free kick from set piece specialist Kennedy sealed the title in injury time as his effort flew past Stone and into the top corner.
