Rangers claim back-to-back awards after Brogan Hay is voted April's player of the month

Rangers winger Brogan Hay has been voted Scottish Building Society SWPL Player of the Month for April 2021.

The Rutherglen star contributed two goals and three assists for a Rangers side that collected 12 points from a possible 15.

Hay's victory ensures that Rangers have claimed the award in consecutive months after Lizzie Arnot picked up the award in December 2020, before the league was suspended due to Covid.

The 22 year-old has been in blistering form for Malky Thomson's side this season as Rangers attempt to rival Glasgow City and Celtic for the SWPL1 title.

It's the second time that Hay has won the award after she was voted Player of the Month in August/September 2019 and she was quick to praise the support of her teammates.

She told the SWPL: "I'm delighted to have won the award. It's been a good month for us, there's been a couple of performances that we are really pleased with and a couple of things we'd like to work on.

"I've got to give credit to my coaches and teammates because they play a huge part in my performances with the confidence and belief that they have in me.

"It really helps me grow as a player and as a person to be confident in myself. It's something that I've maybe struggled with in the past but being at Rangers has really helped me grow.

"From a team perspective we've had some really good performances in there {April}. We had a lot of goals and a lot of different goal scorers which is always really pleasing to see in the team.

"We had some clean sheets which is obviously credit to our goalkeepers. We've got two great goalkeepers who work tirelessly in training and they work so hard."
