Showdown talks between Rangers and the cinch are set to spill over into next week after a resolution to the spat with the title sponsors cinch couldn’t be found.
The Ibrox club have enraged the car selling firm after refusing to use their branding during their Scottish Premiership opener with Livingston.
And the SPFL 's new primary partners have threatened to walk away from their £8million deal as a result.
That’s spooked the Gers rivals, who fear they could be hit hard in the pocket.
Rangers are confident they have found a legal loophole that allows them to honour existing agreements with partners instead of cinch.
Chairman Douglas Park owns his own used car firm and sees cinch as competitors, with the club claiming league chief Neil Doncaster was warned of their stance.
The Daily Record reports that the SPFL have requested legal proof from Rangers that the cinch deal infringes on their existing contracts, and it had been hoped that a consensus could be reached ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
That hasn’t happened though, and the English-based firm remains ready to pull the plug on their record deal should an agreement not be reached next week.
