Rangers bubble has burst again and Celtic will cruise to the title - Hotline

Steven Gerrard said he was left shellshocked by his Rangers team in their loss to Hearts.

And the Hotline was flooded by callers who also got in touch with views after the Ibrox side’s torture at Tynecastle.

Rangers blew a 1-0 lead in Gorgie as they crashed to the hot hosts who grabbed just a third top-flight win of their season.

Ian Loudon, Dunfermline, said: “Rangers got exactly what they deserved. Joe Aribo is totally ineffective wide right, Glen Kamara was diabolical and Hearts seemed to want it more than we did. A disgrace.”

Alan Clark, Barrhead, added: “Gerrard’s decision to go with Jermain Defoe every time Alfredo Morelos is out will surely cost Rangers the title. Defoe is done at the top level, it’s like playing with 10 men.

“Gerrard should have bought a decent back up striker. It smells of an old pals act. Bournemouth are going down and still don’t want Defoe back.”

Brian Quinn, Paisley, made a point on the squad as he said: “I am getting really worried at Rangers’ lack of signings. We have more games to play than Celtic compared to less last season with the Europa League on top.

“This is where squad strength comes into play. Our squad is weaker than Celtic’s already and looks to be tiring.”

Robert Pender emailed a differing view as he countered: “Rangers not adding to squad could prove to be a good thing. To bring new players in does not guarantee they would hit the ground running. If you have to sign, maybe one at most to avoid disturbing team unity.”

Liam Birney, Paisley, enjoyed the outcome and said: “As the Rangers juggernaut comes to a shuddering stop the players at the next Hearts home game need to watch their feet on the turf as there will be loads of broken glass where the Rangers bottle crashed.”

Avril Blair sent an email to add: “Just like last year when the challenge was on, has the bubble over at Ibrox way burst again? The champagne is on ice for title No.9 at Celtic.”

Neil Lennon’s men are now five points clear after their win over Ross County, but there were interesting views on the action at Parkhead.

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: “Odsonne Edouard showed that not having him in the starting line up is akin to having Doctor Who without the Daleks. After shelling out £3.5 million on Patryk Kilmala and once again seeing him click his heels on the bench, I am even this early wondering if this is major money well spent. “

Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “It’s getting so bad that my local independent bookie wouldn’t take a bet on Celtic getting a penalty on Saturday when he saw it was Kevin Clancy who was the referee.

“I can’t believe that Clancy was given a game at his beloved Celtic Park so soon after his abysmal one-sided performance in the recent Old Firm game.

"Another soft penalty given to Celtic when they were struggling. At least he’s consistent.”

David Bryce, Troon, wasn’t impressed and said: “Celtic were woeful. The tactics were one paced and so predictable. We got lucky because County were the better side,

“Hayes, Ntcham, Forrest, Bauer are woeful every time they play for the club. Where’s Klimala? He’s not getting a chance. Lenny plays his favourites all the time.”

John Robertson, South Queensferry, said: “I saw Scott Brown talking about the competition Celtic have had over the past eight seasons. Nobody bar the Old Firm has won the league since the 1980s, so no Rangers, no competition.

"And Rangers have been a mess for eight years, so get real Scott.”
