Rangers break silence on Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe bans as they praise UEFA 'vindication'

Rangers have broken their silence on the UEFA decisions to ban Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe, as well as Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela.

The defender has been banned for 10 games for racially abusing Kamara, while the Rangers pair have been hit with three and four game bans for separate incidents.

Kamara was banned for assaulting Kudela following the match, while Roofe was suspended for his tackle on goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar in the Europa League clash.

And now Rangers say the decision to ban Kamara proves he was in the right but they have written to UEFA to question bans handed out elsewhere.

Steven Gerrard’s side were also fined for failing to control their players after five yellow cards during the match.

The 10 game ban handed to Kudela is the minimum amount, and he could have been banned for even more.

A statement said: "We welcome the suspension imposed on Ondrej Kudela. This not only vindicates Glen Kamara’s evidence but underlines the severity of the comment, given the number of games has been imposed by UEFA.

"Nevertheless, we believe the sanctions imposed on our two players (Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe) are severe. We have written to UEFA, seeking clarification in writing on the basis that we intend to appeal the suspensions on both of players.

"We will make no further comment on this matter."
