Rangers-bound Jake Hastie under fire from Motherwell fans as banner aims dig at starlet

Jake Hastie's move to Rangers is expected to be completed imminently - but it's left a bitter taste with the Motherwell faithful.

News broke on Friday that the Well academy graduate had agreed a pre-contract with the Ibrox side and is set to join in the summer.

Hastie burst onto the scene in the second-half of the season with a string of impressive displays that quickly cemented him as a favourite with the Fir Park faithful.

But his hero status appears to be short-lived as Well fans aimed a thinly-veiled dig at the 20-year-old ahead of their 4-3 win over Dundee.

The winger was left out of Stephen Robinson's squad entirely for the Premiership clash but that didn't stop the home support making their feelings known.

A section of Motherwell fans unveiled a banner quoting lyrics to a song that, until Saturday, lauded Hastie alongside fellow academy starlets David Turnbull and Alan Campbell.

To the tune of Pilot's "Magic", fans would usually sing "It's magic, you know - Hastie, Turnbull and Campbell..."

But the revised version was changed to simply "It's magic, you know, David Turnbull and Campbell..."

And it was Turnbull who proved the match-winner for Robinson's men as they all-but consigned Dundee to the Championship next season.

His 95th minute winner sealed victory in a thrilling encounter in Lanarkshire to leave Jim McIntyre's side needing a miracle.
