Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says he's 'made his feelings known' about Glen Kamara contract situation

Steven Gerrard says he has "made his feelings known" to the Rangers board about Glen Kamara's contract situation.

The Finnish international has been in fantastic form for the Ibrox club so far this season, and he put in a stellar performance against Celtic in the weekend's Old Firm derby.

Kamara's deal runs until the summer of 2023, but Gerrard has spoken before about offering the 24-year-old an improved deal to reward his efforts, and fend off any interest in the midfield man.

And when asked if a new deal for the player was a priority in the wake of his showing on Saturday, Gerrard said: "If it was my decision the answer would be yes. I've made my feelings known to Ross [Wilson] and the board on that situation. Glen has been fantastic for me since day one.

"He's grown, evolved and improved. He's listened to different areas of his game where we felt we could shape him and help him become a better player.

"But he's the one who's gone out and really worked at his game, in and out of possession. He's playing with confidence.

"He was superb at the weekend but for me he's been really consistent for a lot longer than that.

"Glen is in a fantastic place and we want him around for as long as possible. Everyone knows my feeling on that situation."
