Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says Hamilton should have ended their unbeaten streak

Rangers gaffer Steven Gerrard admits Hamilton Accies deserved more from their 1-1 draw as he admitted his relief at leaving New Douglas Park with a point.

The Ibrox gaffer extended his unbeaten run in the Premiership to 28 games as they stayed on track for the title and an invincible season.

However, he was furious with their display against the league's bottom side and confessed Rangers let down fans all over the world with the Lanarkshire stalemate.

And he was full of praise for a battling Accies side, who struck in the fifth minute of injury time to salvage a point after Brian Easton's own goal had handed Rangers the lead in the 80th minute.

Gerrard said: "Brian's teams always come and have a go, they'll play two up front, they'll make it difficult for you.

"Hamilton didn't disappoint.

"I thought Brian's team were terrific, he should be really proud of them - they deserved to beat us today.

"But we shouldn't have been surprised or shocked because it was what we prepared for.

"I am disappointed and I am frustrated at our own performance.

"I’m frustrated at myself. When you take the lead but concede with the last kick of the game it’s quite natural to feel like that.

“But I think when the dust settles I’ll be quite relieved we’ve taken a point away today because I don’t think we deserved anything out the game.

"We've been absolutely terrific up to this point, but we just weren't at the races.

"I think our support around the world watching that will be disappointed as well.

"That's for me and the players to take responsibility for.

“It’s the easy way out to say it’s a bad day at the office. We had one of them at St Mirren and that’s the reason we can’t win a League Cup.

“Today was worse. I thought that was our worst performance of the season. Individual performances today weren’t good enough.

“Our keeper has been the busiest of both goalies and kept us in the game and is the reason we’re taking a point out of the game.

“It would have been a smash and grab from us, so look we got what we deserved.

"We could have got a worse but we never really looked like a Rangers team until we made some changes. I thought the subs did really well.

"But I can’t find praise for that performance today.

"When the dust settles and we watch it back, it's probably a point gained."
