Rangers boss Steven Gerrard on the opportunity his side missed in the first half against Livi

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says his players should have done more to test the Livingston 'keeper in the early stages of their goalless draw.

Max Stryjek was making his debut in the Livi goal and Gerrard feels his players should have put him under more pressure in the first half.

Rangers dominated for large spells but were unable to make the breakthrough at the Tony Macaroni Arena despite some late pressure – with Ryan Kent and Borna Barisic going close.

And Gerrard told Sky Sports after the match: "They've defended well. You have to give them a certain level of credit but we threw everything at it today. We put enough talent and enough good players on the pitch to try and find the answer but unfortunately we couldn't find that moment or that bit of magic.

"We've put numerous crosses into the box. There's been a lot of ricochets in the box. We threw a free-kick at it where he's made a big save, but the reality is we never tested their 'keeper in the first 45-minutes enough considering he's making his debut, and it was a little bit too little too late.

"We pushed and pushed hard in the last 15/20 minutes but without that real moment of quality. We couldn't deliver that today."
