Rangers boss Steven Gerrard on key differences between new strikers Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has outlined the key differences between Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, and why they could even play together.

The Ibrox boss says he's delighted with the backing the club has given him and his staff, and he believes the two new additions could make a big difference.

Both Roofe and Itten will join up with their Rangers teammates after tomorrow's match against Bayer Leverkusen, and Gerrard said: "I'm extremely happy with the two players we got in yesterday and we now have a lot of options in the forward areas.

"I'm sure they will both bring a lot to the group. The board have given us great backing."

Roofe impressed at Leeds United before moving to Belgium with Anderlecht. Things didn't quite work out for the frontman overseas, but Gerrard feels he could fit perfectly into the style Rangers use.

Itten comes with impressive goalscoring pedigree having netted 19 times in 34 Swiss Super League matches last season.

Gerrard added: "Both players are different. Roofe is very sharp and likes to press hard. Cedric is the one who comes with huge potential, power and pace.

"They give us good options and can also play together in our system."
