Rangers boss Steven Gerrard offered ban as SFA reveal fate for potential Old Firm title party

Steven Gerrard has been offered a one-match ban for his explosive blast at referee John Beaton during Rangers’ 1-0 win over Livingston.

The Ibrox boss angrily stormed onto the pitch at half time in the 1-0 win at the Tony Macaroni stadium to confront the official after he booked Alfredo Morelos for an apparent dive.

Beaton flashed a yellow and then a red in his direction, forcing him to watch the second period from the stands as Morelos netted a late winner.

It put his status for what could be a historic Rangers Premiership title win in jeopardy with ears over whether he would be in the dugout when the Govan outfit visit Parkhead on March 21.

Gerrard will miss Saturday's meeting with St Mirren at Ibrox should the club accept the ban, but will face a hearing on March 25 if he decides to fight it.

Either way, he will be available to take charge against Celtic later this month.

The Gers could be confirmed as champions as early as this weekend if they beat The Buddies and Celtic fail to win at Dundee United on Sunday.

The Premiership leaders have launched an appeal against Morelos' yellow following his tangle with Max Stryjek.

Rangers have until March 10 to appeal the charge against Gerrard.
