And with the match poised at 2-2, Gerrard fashioned a top class finish to secure the win for his Liverpool team.
Gerrard - alongside Jamie Carragher, Dirk Kuyt and company - had been pitched against the likes of Kaka, Andrea Pirlo and Cafu to raise funds for the Liverpool FC foundation.
Managed by Kenny Dalgish, the Reds took the lead in the first half through Robbie Fowler, who netted with a lovely left foot finish after a pinpoint cross from Glen Johnson.

Djibril Cisse added a second after the break, after being played through one on one and slotting it under Christian Abbiati.
Pirlo curled in an exquisite free-kick on the hour mark, after Kaka had been scythed down by Daniel Agger on the edge of the box.
AC Milan then equalised in stunning fashion.
Giuseppe Pancaro retrieved the ball on the left, just outside the area, and curled a deadly finish beyond the goalkeeper.
Minutes later, however, Liverpool were back in front and who else but Steven Gerrard to take responsibility.
He weaved in and out and cut back on to his right foot before drilling home to make it 3-2.
