Rangers boss Steven Gerrard in 'constant' Dave King dialogue as he gives fan group deal his seal of approval

Steven Gerrard has revealed he remains in "constant dialogue" with former Rangers chairman Dave King.

King stepped aside back in March and this week revealed plans to sell his shares to fan group Club 1872.

Gerrard has given the deal his seal of approval and feels it will strengthen the relationship between supporters and the club.

As for his relationship, the Rangers boss insists they are still close despite his departure.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with Standad Liege, Gerrard said: "Obviously Dave stepped aside some time ago.

"My relationship with Dave is very strong, I am still in constant dialogue with him. Although the news was new to me. I didn't have any idea that was going to break.

"I haven't really had time to read up about it or educate myself, if you like, on what could happen in the short, medium and long-term.

"It's a positive in terms of what I have read so far, in terms of the fans getting closer and giving them more ownership.

"I feel it's the right thing to do to protect the club and put us in a stronger position.

"That makes the fans more connected.”
