Rangers boss Steven Gerrard details St Mirren qualities and predicts tough test in Paisley

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard believes the form of both his side and St Mirren will make their League Cup quarter-final clash one to savour.

While the Ibrox side are currently unbeaten in 27 matches, the Buddies are also on a streak of their own as they head into the tie looking to make it 10 games without tasting defeat.

Gerrard is determined to bring silverware to the Glasgow giants this season, and believes Jim Goodwin's side will provide a stern test as both teams look to make the last four of the competition in Paisley tomorrow night.

He also revealed that midfield general Ryan Jack won't be available for the crunch clash at the SMISA Stadium.

Gerrard said: "St Mirren are certainly in a good place of late, they are organised and have pace and counter-attack in the side.

"They have a plan and a way of playing. Both teams are in good form heading, ,  into this and it is all set up to be a good test.

"Still no Ryan Jack, he is moving along but not ready. Everyone else is available except Katic.

"Jack hasn't suffered a setback, it won't be too long before he returns but it is important not to rush him."
