Rangers boss Steven Gerrard confirms Alfredo Morelos decision for Aberdeen clash as he gives transfer update

Alfredo Morelos will be included in Rangers' squad for their clash against Aberdeen on Saturday as his future remains up in the air.

The striker has reportedly accepted personal terms with Lille as the French side look to agree on fee for the Colombian.

But Morelos will make the trip to Pittodrie for his side's Premiership opener despite the ongoing speculation.

Gerrard said: "Alfredo will travel up to Aberdeen with us, in terms of the starting XI and squad I will decide this after today's session."

Jermain Defoe will miss the Dons fixture, however, after picking up an injury in pre-season.

Steven Davis is also carrying a knock, but should be available for Thursday night's Europa League clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

He added: "Defoe won't make the match with his hamstring, the weekend is too soon. Davis has a small issue and will miss this game but should be available for Thursday night."

Gerrard was quizzed about Morelos' future and the club's plans for the transfer window, but the Rangers boss didn't give too much away.

He said: "It will be a unique window due to the timings of it. Until we have anything over the line we won't say anything on it but we are actively trying to improve the squad."
