Rangers boss Steven Gerrard claims Kilmarnock tried to 'steal' point and had no ambition to win

Steven Gerrard has accused Kilmarnock of trying to "steal" a point from Rangers and claimed they had no ambition to win the match.

The Rangers boss watched on as it took his side over an hour to break down the Kilmarnock defence in their Boxing Day Premiership clash at Ibrox.

They finally opened the scoring thanks to substitute Alfredo Morelos, but they failed to score again.

Gerrard said: "Killie set us a challenge, ‘come and beat us’, and they made it very difficult for us. We found a way, which is very pleasing.

"You have to give credit to Kilmarnock, who defended resolutely. They were getting blocks in and a lot of men behind the ball.

"They had no ambition to win the game but we have to accept that teams are going to come here and try to steal points away from us. Killie did it very well for a lot of the game and we had to force the goal."
