Rangers boss Philippe Clement unlikely to receive SFA action over Hertha red card

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is unlikely to face any action following his red card against Hertha Berlin at the weekend, it is understood.

The Belgian boss was sent off during the bounce game against Gers' German opponents and as a result, he was forced to watch the remainder of the fixture from outside of the La Manga complex.

Clement was flashed his red card for questioning the Spanish referee during the contest, but it remains unlikely that he will face a touchline ban in Scotland when domestic action returns following the winter break.

The referee in question will file a report from the contest to the Spanish FA and it is up to him whether he mentions the red card for the Rangers manager.

If he does include the incident in his match notes then it will be up the Spanish FA on whether they will report the incident to the Scottish FA.

If the red card report did make it back to Hampden Park, then it would be up to the discretion of SFA compliance officer Martin Black on whether Clement deserves further action.

He could either face no further action, a notice of complaint or a one-match ban. However, it is understood that if the red card in question did reach this stage, no further action would be taken on the Ibrox manager.
