Rangers have been blasted over their move to write to the SFA demanding an explanation over the decision to disallow Alfredo Morelos’ strike in their Old Firm derby defeat on Saturday.
Referee Kevin Clancy adjudged the Colombian to have committed a foul on Celtic’s Alistair Johnston as they competed for the ball at a corner and the goal was ruled out.
The decision has since seen Clancy come under fire, with the SFA referring a number of abusive messages directed at the whistler to the police.
On the issue of the Morelos strike, the SFA responded to the Ibrox side to say it was the correct call which Rangers said in a statement had left them “astonished” with many pundits and former players disagreeing since the storm that has followed.
And BBC pundit Michael Stewart took to his own Twitter account to say: “Rangers level of entitlement is incredible. Writing letters wanting explanations and apologies for one perceived mistake. I must have missed the numerous other clubs letters this season. St.J must surely have done it after their game at Ibrox…..”
Stewart was referring to St Johnstone striker Nicky Clark receiving a red card during a defeat at Ibrox which was later reduced to a yellow after an appeal. There was controversy in the same game when Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack avoided being sent off despite match referee Willie Collum being asked to review his decision to book the midfielder by VAR Nick Walsh.
