Rangers billed as 'best team in Scotland' but Falkirk chief delivers bittersweet Betfred Cup verdict

Falkirk chief Gary Deans admits his joy at drawing the "best team in Scotland" after being handed a Betfred Cup clash with Rangers.

He reckons Steven Gerrard 's side currently are the SPFL's top dogs - which leaves him gutted no Bairns will be there to see it.

The League One side will host the Premiership leaders on November 28 or 29 for a place in the last eight.

And while Falkirk will be billed as underdogs, Deans insists he wouldn't swap the tie for a "low-key" fixture.

“It’s an exciting draw and we’re all looking forward to it already," he told The Scottish Sun.

“I don’t know if it will be on TV or not, we’ll find that out soon.

“But one way or another, whether people will be able to watch it live on Premier Sports, or whether it will be by streaming, it is going to be good.

“The players and the managers will get a huge buzz from it, I’m sure of that. We have started the new season pretty well.

“And even though there won’t be Falkirk fans in the ground they will get the chance to see their team up against the side that, right now, are the best team in Scotland.

“And in that sense we couldn’t have asked for a tougher game for our team, absolutely not.

“But would we rather have that than a low-key game against one of the other sides? Probably not, to be honest.”
