Rangers ban three fans 'indefinitely' as supporters charged with singing racist songs ahead of Celtic clash

Three fans charged with singing racist songs in a march through Glasgow have been banned indefinitely by Rangers.

Ahead of Sunday's game with Celtic a group of supporters marched through the city centre singing the so-called 'Famine Song' and other offensive epithets.

Following the march three men aged 19, 21 and 24 have been arrested and charged, and they've now been given an indefinite ban from Ibrox.

A club statement said: "After liaising with Police Scotland regarding a well documented incident on Sunday, Rangers have written to 3 individuals to confirm their indefinite ban from all club fixtures.

"We reiterate our club stance against all forms of discrimination and once again, underline our approach to so-called ‘fans’ who bring the good name of Rangers FC into disrepute."

The three men are expected to be just the first of numerous arrests to be made, according to Police Scotland.

A spokesperson said: "We have made the first of what I expect to be numerous arrests following the disgraceful racial conduct shown by a minority of Rangers supporters who were making their way to Ibrox stadium on Sunday, 29 August.

"Three men were arrested and charged last night, Wednesday, 1 September, in connection with racially aggravated offences towards a member of the public and for the singing of racist material."

Rangers’ action comes around a week after they also banned supporters for over the Kyogo Furuhashi incident.

"This racist conduct will not be tolerated and our investigations are continuing."
