Rangers B won't underestimate East Kilbride after title favourites' poor start to season, says boss

Rangers B boss David McCallum insists he is not fooled by East Kilbride's poor start to the season ahead of the sides meeting this afternoon.

Kilby - managed by Stevie Aitken and Rangers legend Ian Durrant - have made their worst-ever start to a Lowland League season with just two points from their opening three games and it's been a big setback for a side tipped as title favourites before the season kicked-off.

East Kilbride now head to Dumbarton's C&G Systems Stadium desperate for that first win to come against a Rangers B side who have won three of their first four matches.

The young Gers outfit are the form team going into the clash, but McCallum knows that with the likes of ex-Dundee United and Partick star Chris Erskine, former Morton midfielder Chris Millar and ex-Rangers star Gregg Wylde among their ranks, they'd be foolish to take Kilby lightly.

McCallum told Rangers TV: "East Kilbride were one of the favourites at the start of the season and I don't think that's changed.

"I know they've had a difficult start, but they've got players in their group that should and probably could still be playing at the higher levels - League One, League Two and maybe even Championship for one or two of them.

"So it will be difficult and we should expect that.

East Kilbride's Gregg Wylde, right, will be reunited with his old club (Tommy Taylor)

"I don't think we should look into their results too deeply because at some point that will change.

"We just have to make sure we know as much about them as much as we can.

"That's only for awareness because we should always look at ourselves first and foremost and try and make sure we perform at the levels we know the players can do.

"If there are problems that happen during the game, we'll just need to find the solutions just a little bit quicker."

Today's clash is a 3pm kick-off.
