Rangers B were dominated by East Kilbrde and first win will come, says Stevie Aitken

East Kilbride boss Stevie Aitken is sure their first win of the season is just around the corner after dominating Rangers B in Sunday's 2-1 defeat.

The K-Park side's worst-ever start to a season continued when they slipped to back-to-back defeats at the C&G Systems stadium in Dumbarton, following a shock 1-0 loss at home to Civil Service Strollers last week.

It leaves Kilby third from bottom in the Lowland League and 13 points off leaders Civil, with just two points from their opening four games.

Historically, Lowland League champions tend to drop very few points but Kilby are confident this season will be different with the introduction of the Rangers and Celtic B sides.

Aitken is adamant the performances have been there and their luck can change when they host Bo'ness United on Saturday.

The Kilby gaffer said: "We are not concerned because I think this will be different to other seasons.

"This season you have the Colts teams and they will be in the top four, so they will beat the majority of teams and that's the way it is going to be.

"I think this year every team will drop points.

"We are not where we want to be - we are not trying to hide that - but at the same time we are not panicking.

"There's a lot of points at stake and I'm confident, come the end of the season, that we will be up there challenging.

"I'm still positive. We were the better side and dominated the game against Rangers.

"It will turn for us. It's only four games in.

"I know teams that have won leagues when after four games they hadn't won a game at all, so we are not panicking."

East Kilbride have been ravaged by injury and are still missing key players Cammy Elliott, Joao Victoria and Liam Millar, while ex-Rangers star Gregg Wylde wasn't fit enough to face his old club.

Aitken added: "We should have won the game and Rangers said that themselves, but I feel for the players because they are giving it absolutely everything - and a lot of them are not fit.

"We dominated a really good Rangers side who have spent a lot of money on their players, but we just didn't get the breaks.

"They played Charlie McCann and that's the kind of level they are at that they can do that.

"But second half we really went at them, we pinned Rangers back and we didn't deserve to lose.

"I just feel for the players because they are getting no breaks.

"We need to get the injured players back."

Before returning to league business, EK head to Falkirk in round one of the SPFL Trust Trophy on Wednesday night, kick-off 7.30pm.
