Rangers are equal to Celtic on their day and can win title says Neil McCann

Neil McCann believes Rangers are as good as Celtic on their day and can win this season's title.

Celtic were 13 points ahead of their nearest rivals when the season ground to a half in March, and are looking to win a historic tenth successive title this season.

Former Rangers, Hearts, Falkirk and Dundee winger McCann, however, says the loss of goalkeeper Fraser Forster could prove pivotal and see Steven Gerrard's men end Celtic's Premiership domination.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, McCann said: "It's the omission of Forster from that starting line-up that I think is absolutely huge.

"I look at the Rangers squad and it is virtually unchanged - not a lot of changes other than one or two additions.

"Rangers are every bit as good as Celtic on their day and they have proved it.

"They have to find the longevity and stamina for a season and deal with the pressure, but I think the fans can create a lot of pressure and, if the fans are not there, it could help Rangers."

McCann was brought to Ibrox by Dick Advocaat in 1998 for £1.9 million.
