Gary Doctor admits Hamilton Accies Women were beaten by the best team they’ve ever faced in the SWPL after a thrashing by Rangers.
Following an opening day win over Hearts, Accies were brought back down to earth with a sobering 7-0 defeat at New Douglas Park on Sunday.
While it was tough to take, the gaffer insists those games won’t define their season.
Doctor, whose side were 4-0 down by half-time, said: “Rangers are easily the best team we’ve ever come up against.
“You can see the investment paying off on the pitch from their point of view, in that first 45 minutes especially.
“That was as tough a half as it gets and it was a tough lesson for us.
“But we need to put it in context and put it behind us.

“We are disappointed with some of the things that happened. It wasn’t made easier with our goalkeeper being ruled out on the Thursday night and we had to bring in a goalkeeper who hadn’t played for 18 months.
“That’s not her fault, but it doesn’t help the preparation and it can be unsettling.
“Small things like that can make wee differences that add up.
“We’ve got to look forward to the teams around us and those that have similar setups to ourselves.”
Doctor is focused on bouncing back when they visit Aberdeen this weekend and they head north having enjoyed a 2-1 victory over the Dons last season on their way to promotion to the top flight.
He added: “Aberdeen are a strong team. They’ve started well and got a win at the weekend as well.
“There’s certainly not going to be any easy games, but both teams are looking at it as an opportunity to get points.
“We’ll focus on this game, it’s the more important one for us. It’s early days but the fact is we didn’t get beat with zero points on the board, which would have been far more demoralising.”
