Rangers appeal Ryan Kent's two-game ban for punching Scott Brown

Rangers have launched an appeal over Ryan Kent's two-game ban for punching Celtic skipper Scott Brown.

The Ibrox side had until 3:00pm on Wednesday to appeal and will now fight the decision at a fast-track Hampden hearing on Thursday.

The compliance officer cited Kent with TV cameras catching the winger striking the Hoops skipper in the aftermath of James Forrest's winner in Sunday's clash at Parkhead.

Brown had rolled the ball away before the 22-year-old lashed out as players and officials surrounded him but he wasn't given his marching orders.

That leaves Kent free to face Hearts in Wednesday's clash and the availability of the winger will be a welcome relief for Steven Gerrard.

The Ibrox boss will be without Alfredo Morelos for the next four matches after the Colombian was sent off during Rangers' 2-1 defeat.

Alfredo Morelos slams Celtic skipper Scott Brown and claims officials didn't see red card incident

The striker has come out fighting and told Colombian radio Brown "exaggerated" during the flashpoint and claimed Bobby Madden and his officials didn't see what happened.

Andy Halliday is another who will miss the game against the Jambos after he shown a second yellow card as both sides clashed at the final whistle.
