Rangers announce signing of former Kilmarnock striker Greg Stewart

Greg Stewart has officially joined Rangers today after loan spells at Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

He joins up with his new Ibrox teammates after a long-winded few months of speculation.

A Rangers statement said: "Rangers can today confirm the signing of Greg Stewart on a two-year-deal.

"The Scotsman joins on a free contract after leaving Birmingham City this summer. The 29-year-old had been on loan to Aberdeen for the second half of the 2018/19 season, having spent the first six months of the campaign with Kilmarnock.

"The forward will now stay in Scotland to join Steven Gerrard’s squad having spent the majority of his career north of the border. This will be a return of sorts for the Stirling born player as he began his footballing career in the Rangers Academy.

"His first senior club was Cowdenbeath, where he made over 100 appearances before moving to Dundee in 2014 where he spent two years. His time with the Dees saw him catch the eye of Championship Birmingham City and he signed a three-year-deal at St Andrews in August 2016.

"He returned to Scotland on loan to Aberdeen for the 2017/18 season and now makes a permanent return with the Gers."
