Rangers and West Ham stars back amputee Glasgow schoolboy bidding to become pro footballer

Rangers star Steven Davis and West Ham United player Robert Snodgrass have sent their support to a football-daft Glasgow amputee after he scored a viral hit with his skills.

12-year-old Harris Tinney, a pupil at Govan High School, has set his sights on becoming the very first professional footballer with a prosthetic limb - and has been keeping up his skills despite being stuck at home.

Harris, who plays for Amputee Football Association Scotland, shared a video of himself showcasing his talent - completing the round the world challenge with his prosthetic leg.

And that encouraged Steven Davis and Robert Snodgrass to send him video messages following on from those he received by ex 'Gers stars Fraser Aird and Greg Docherty.

In his message, Steven Davis told Harris to "keep up the good work", while Snodgrass repeated the message while telling the youngster to "keep chasing your dreams".

Ashley Reid, CEO and founder of Amputee Football Association Scotland, said: "Harris is a talented and ambitious player who we've enjoyed watching grow in confidence and ability over the last three years.

"Our coaches have been actively encouraging all our players to continue working on their skills and fitness, despite the challenges of lockdown, and Harris is hugely committed to this.

"To receive support and recognition from players such as Steven Davis not only provides encouragement to Harris, but helps raise the profile of amputee football generally.

"We hope this encourages other aspiring young footballers, who might face similar challenges, to give it a try."
