Rangers and their vexed fans must understand big clubs like Celtic take priority for stadium return - Hotline

Rangers are furious at getting fewer fans inside Ibrox on Saturday than Celtic have been allocated at Parkhead on the same day - and predictably enough, the issue has split the Hotline.

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “It seems GCC are playing with words concerning the amount of fans allowed into Celtic Park and Ibrox respectfully for these friendlies ? Are the leaders of that council Celtic supporters?”

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton , is trying to wind up the Rangers support by emailing: “I really don’t understand Rangers making such a fuss about only 12,000 being allowed against Real Madrid and Celtic having 18,000 against West Ham. It makes absolute sense to give priority to bigger clubs at this stage of football reopening.”

Dr Robert Pender emailed: “The allocation of attendees at Rangers pre season matches needs some common sense. The same percentage should have been allocated to each club. Treat the fans with respect and play fair and avoid trouble.”

Lance Little, Erskine, said: “I see the season has started with rage and the usual whinging from Rangers. This time it’s about not getting as many supporters back as Celtic.

"Hello, your team has a tiny wee dilapidated stadium in comparison to Parkhead. They also need to build up the stadium attendance over time. Celtic had 9,000 on Tuesday and it went well which is why numbers were increased.

"I feel the usual Rangers statement coming on.”

Kris Ajer’s departure to Brentford provoked a couple of reactions. First up was Chris Lowe, Yoker, who said: “So Celtic allegedly get one of their highest fees and don’t announce it to the stock market like they did for Tierney and Dembele.

“Brentford smash their transfer record by 60 per cent and don’t think that is worthy of a mention in their announcement of signing Ajer, instead reporting it as an undisclosed fee. It’s about as believable as the Frimpong fee but the gullible fans will swallow it as usual.”

Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: “ Ajer praises coach John Kennedy for making him the player he is today.

"He can’t header a ball. I’ve seen milk turn quicker. He can’t tackle. Spends most of the 90 minutes daydreaming.

"Well done Kennedy.”

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, Fife emailed: “As has been said on here many times, last season is history. Celtic are adding to their squad on a daily basis. Time will tell how good the signings are. Balancing the books with the outgoings sound business. Quality coming through the academy.

“A new manager who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to speak his mind and is not a yes man. Europe may be a step too far. The big goal is winning the league and automatic entry into The Champions League. Write Celtic off at your peril.”

But Scott Kerr, Knightswood emailed: “Get Barkas out the door now. His name should be Barking. Also, Ajeti is a waste of a Hoops jersey. My message to the Board is spend the money to get Fraser Foster back now.”

And finally, Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: “If Celtic go out next Wednesday, the media will slaughter big Ange. Hopefully we go through. As for us fighting it out for 5th and 6th place...our worst season last year ever and we still ran away in 2nd place, so give us a break please.”
