Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist celebrated win with England stars as Euro reunion lined up

Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist has revealed he celebrated last night's sensational penalty shootout win over Serbia with ex-England stars Ian Wright and Lee Dixon.

The last player to score for Scotland at a European Championship, East Kilbride hero McCoist said he was "absolutely buzzing" as the shootout success sent Scotland to Euro 2020 - and set up a rematch of the famous Euro '96 clash with England in the group stages.

McCoist's former Rangers team-mate Paul Gascoigne scored a wonder goal past Ibrox legend Andy Goram in a 2-0 victory at the old Wembley, after Gary McAllister - now Rangers' assistant manager - had missed a penalty to make it 1-1 just seconds before.

Now the Auld Enemies will be reunited in a Group D clash at the new Wembley next summer in a section that will also include Croatia and Czech Republic.

And McCoist, who scored from distance in a 1-0 win against Switzerland in Scotland's last appearance at a Euros 24 years ago, heaped praise on fellow Lanarkshire star Declan Gallagher and a number of Steve Clarke's men for their historic display in Belgrade on his Instagram page.

McCoist also revealed how he was "hugging" former England and Arsenal stars Ian Wright and Lee Dixon at Wembley, where he was working on England's friendly clash with Republic of Ireland for ITV Sport.
